Dr. Marr graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in 1978, completed the Basic Course in Animal Chiropractic from Options for Animals and became a Certified Animal Chiropractor in 1992 (AVCA Certificate #13), and also completed the Advanced Animal Chiropractic Course with an Advanced Certification in 1996 (AVCA Certificate #2).

He and his wife Pat have been working together since 1980 and although they maintained a human practice until 1992, since 1993 the practice has been limited to animals only, primarily equine and canine, but it also includes a small percentage of other animals as well.

Dr. Marr is a former instructor for and former co-owner of the Options for Animals International Academy of Animal Chiropractic, a Founding Lifetime Member of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association, and a Member of the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association.
He has taught and lectured both here in the United States and in Europe and is credited with teaching a large percentage of certified animal chiropractors worldwide.

One of the most frequently asked questions is "How do I know if my animal needs Chiropractic care?" Although the list is not all inclusive, the following signs may indicate a need for Chiropractic care:

Horses

  • Discomfort when saddling or tightening- the cinch
  • Refusing to take proper leads or- perform lead changes
  • General discomfort when riding
  • Wringing tail and/or pinning ears
  • Refusal, resistance, or change in performance in general
  • Inability to engage hind quarters
  • Difficulty in flexing poll
  • Times falling off in timed events
  • Refusal, difficulty, or not sitting in turning barrels
  • Unwillingness to face or back up after roping, or wanting to duck off
  • Generalized stiffness in either one or both directions

Dogs

  • Chewing on legs
  • Refusal or unwillingness over jumps
  • Difficulty sitting or climbing stairs
  • Refusal or resistance in performing certain movements or a change in performance in general
  • Roached back
  • Stiffness on first arising
  • Difficulty flexing neck or back
